Educational Advocacy
Records Review:
Review current and/or proposed IEP, progress reports and evaluations
Progress Monitoring: Review of progress reports to confirm adequate reporting of data and rate of progress
Pre- & Post-Meeting Consultations: Discuss concerns, talking points and work collaboratively with families to create a detailed list to bring to the meeting with them
Advocacy Support at School Meetings: Attend and support families through school meetings, including annual review meetings, evaluations, etc.
Written Recommendations: Provide a detailed, itemized list of recommendations to bring to the next meeting (with justifications for each item).
School Observations
As an advocate, my mission is to promote open communication and foster collaborative partnerships between all stakeholders, thereby empowering students to reach their full potential. To support this, I can conduct school/classroom observations and follow-up recommendations to share with the team.
Parent & Staff Training
IOn top of student specific consultation, I provide topic-based parent & staff trainings related to the special education process and home-based strategies. This could be a small/family group, a parent group or even at a SEPAC meeting.
Educational Resources Design
As an educator and resource creator, my mission is to empower teachers and learners with the tools they need to excel in the classroom and beyond. I am thrilled to share my expertise and passion for education through these dynamic and effective educational resources.
